Remember families? We used to value them! We used to care about them! And these are men and woman who may be "illegal" (to use the nasty language of the right, but who often have U.S. citizen children (if that makes it easier for you to feel outrage, I reluctantly point it out.) These men and women work to feed their families. The employer's plants have been shut down because the allegedly participated in a scheme to use false idetities of U.S. citizens to evade the law. Of course punishing Swift, a giant corporation, also means pulling the rug out from under the feet of the workers. Enforce the law, yes; but first pass a massive comprehensive reform bill that allows a meaningful path to legalization to those milions who work every day as productive members of our community.
And from the New York Times, a disturbing trend continues... deputizing local police to enforce immgiration laws.
